Medicsen developps a needle-free drug delivery patch based on painless ultrasounds. Every year more than 1 billion patients use a total of more than 50 billion needles for drug delivery. These generate 20 tons/y of biohazardous waste, which produces 2,000 daily accidental injuries and 3 Bn €/y in costs in the EU alone. Most importantly, 80% of chronic needle users see them as the main barrier to achieve a fair disease control, with poorly controlled patients (65%), generating 20% more costs. To solve that we invented Sonora to deliver drugs with ultrasounds instead of needles. We invented a miniaturized ultrasound generator, around it we built a modular platform device that can work with most subcutaneous drugs (insulin, vaccines, antibodies...) and we proved a safe and effective delivery of insulin on in vivo pig trials.
